Leading Westchester based title insurance agency is looking for an assistant to join our busy Clearance and Legal Department. You will be joining a staff of extremely skilled, highly professional employees, dedicated to assisting each other and our clients. JOB TITLES:
· Clearance/Legal Department Assistant
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
· The ideal candidate will have experience in title insurance, real estate, or a related industry, but we are willing to train the right person.
The position is best suited for an intelligent, self-directed candidate who is motivated, upbeat and will support our high standards of customer service, attention to detail and deadlines. This position is customer facing and requires excellent communication skills. The right candidate will view this as an opportunity to learn about many areas of real estate and law while utilizing and building upon organizational skills.
To be successful at this position you MUST be a fast learner, retain information well, follow instructions, be proficient in technology, have a proactive nature, and enjoy detailed fast paced- work.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide support to the legal/clearance department related to the issuance of real estate title insurance commitments and policies.
- Review files and follow up on open clearance matters with necessary parties, lenders, and attorneys.
- Provide proactive communication with attorneys regarding title matters requiring attention prior to closing.
- Review closing documents for accuracy and completeness.
- This position offers a unique opportunity to learn and train in numerous departments involved in the title process including but not limited to typing, survey, closing, recording, and escrow.
- This position will be exposed to many areas of law including: estates and trusts, real estate, litigation, bankruptcy, and divorce. You will receive training and will be under the supervision of our counsel who is always ready to explain and assist.

· Outstanding organization, time management and multi-tasking skills to handle a large volume of emails and calls and work under pressure of deadlines and time constraints.

· Capacity to quickly assess situations and make decisions.
· Ability to organize, analyze and distribute information.
· Must be able to spot and address irregularities or issues.
· Ideal candidate will have:
• Experience with practices, procedures, and concepts within the title insurance industry.
• Familiarity with closing documents such as, Deeds, Mortgages, Affidavits, Policies, etc.
COMPENSATION:
· $20-$29.54/hour
· 401K (matching)
